INTERNATIONAL CHAMBER OF YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS AND PROFESSIONALS (ICYE)

ABOUT US -THE PROJECT

Our concept of Youth includes citizens of the Federal Republic of Nigeria aged 18–50 years. Nigeria is the most populous country in Africa with one of the largest populations of youth in the world. It is our belief that identifying and addressing issues that would enhance the lives of the youth would improve overall national development. Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, once stated that, "Youth constitute Nigeria's only hope for a real future". The Nigerian government characterises youth as ambitious, enthusiastic, energetic and promising. They are considered vulnerable in society because of the rapid pace of change they experience at this time in their lives. Youth Entrepreneurship and Leadership Project (YELEAP), a non‐governmental, non‐partisan, and not‐for‐profit organisation subsidiary of Institute of Classic Entrepreneurs (INCENT) was created and designed to be the voice and the umbrella organisation for youth organisations in the country to advocate for youth development and leadership. YELEAP views youth welfare as vital to the Nigerian nation and its socioeconomic development. Our policy is seen as a youth participation project, versus a project identifying problems and needs. YELEAP is a major stakeholder in the implementation of the not-too-young-to run.

Youth Entrepreneurship and Leadership Project (YELEAP) was formed by amalgamation of the three affiliates of Institute of Classic Entrepreneurs (INCENT) – African Society for Female Entrepreneurship (ASOFENT); Society for Agropreneurship and Agribusiness (SOFAAG); and International Association of Technopreneurs (IATECH) with the vision to create a new generation of Nigerian transformational entrepreneurs and leaders that would bring peace and prosperity to the continent. It is an independent pan African NGO, which aims to drive sustainable development in Nigeria through promotion of youth-led transformational entrepreneurship and leadership. It is an organisation that for academics and practitioners interested in advancing education, research, training, mentoring, consultancy, advocacy and advisory services in transformational entrepreneurship and leadership for the youth. It is a Nigerian think-tank focused on developing transformational entrepreneurship and leadership in the public and private spheres in Nigeria. YELEAP collaborates with tertiary institutions and professional bodies on entrepreneurship and leadership, publishes policy documents and briefs on civil society, democracy, good leadership and governance, political systems and forms of government, politics and society.

Today, we have pinpointed the mindsets, skills, and behaviours on which the leaders of the future should focus. We leverage our experience to exponentially grow the reach and impact of our mission while simultaneously empowering educational and development organisations to expedite their own success.

YELEAP BELIEFS

At YELEAP we believe that any success one has in life must begin with a vision. A vision is the ability to see what others cannot see. It is being able to have a picture in your mind of exactly the result you intend to produce. The visionary entrepreneur is able to see exactly what his organisation is going to look like in every detail when it is finished.
