The African Council for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (ACSBE) is the most prestigious and forward-thinking learned society of entrepreneurs in Africa, gathering Africa's leading minds in entrepreneurship and the premier organisation addressing emerging topics in entrepreneurship and small business, serving as the vehicle by which the African entrepreneurship ecosystem can work together to share best practices, develop programmes and initiatives, and collaborate and assist each other in advancing, strengthening, and celebrating the role of tertiary institutions in educating the entrepreneurs of tomorrow.

ACSBE serves as a vehicle to develop curriculum, initiate collaborative projects with international partners in the field of entrepreneurship education, and create a platform for the global exchange and integration of best practices in entrepreneurship education. It provides a coordinated vehicle for participating members to collaborate on and communicate about the specific issues and challenges confronting tertiary institution-based entrepreneurship programmes.

ACSBE is an influential voice and advocate for entrepreneurs and small business owners. We focus on advancing policies and initiatives that encourage entrepreneurship and small business growth. Our strength and effectiveness are powered by members and supporters. Our network of supporters, including entrepreneurs and small business owners, state and local business organisations, corporate partners and associations work with us to strengthen the environment for entrepreneurship, investment, innovation and quality job creation

The African Council for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (ACSBE) is the largest independent, professional, academic organisation in Africa dedicated to advancing the discipline of entrepreneurship. With over 400 members from universities and colleges, for-profit businesses, nonprofit organisations, and the public sector, ACSBE is a diverse mix of professionals that share a common commitment to fostering entrepreneurial attitudes and behaviours.

ACSBE Vision

To promote and ensure the highest standards of professionalism in entrepreneurship education required for entrepreneurial effectiveness and prosperity in Africa.

ACSBE Mission

• To facilitate the creation and dissemination of new knowledge through research and the open exchange of ideas between academia, education, policy and practice.
• To determine the academic standards of courses and accredit programmes to be offered by institutions offering entrepreneurship education.
• To bring together the brightest minds from academia and industry to improve entrepreneurship education.
• To foster speedy acquisition of relevant entrepreneurship and enterprise education skills through Continuous Professionalism Development.
• To ensure that entrepreneurship and enterprise education is practiced to improve the quality of life and promote sustainable development.
• To promote and ensure stability and cooperation within professional entrepreneurship bodies in Africa.
• To serve as a scholarly community that supports its members to develop high-quality intellectual contributions in entrepreneurship and small business research, teaching and societal interaction to advance entrepreneurship and small business in Africa. .

ACSBE Purpose and Goals

The purpose of the Association is to advance the understanding of entrepreneurship and small business issues as well as the creation of new entrepreneurship and small business knowledge in research, education, and practical business policy in Africa.

To realise its purpose the Association: .

1. Organises conferences, educational meetings and other events to its members and interest groups in order to promote interaction in the fields of MSME activities and entrepreneurship,
2. Distributes academic material and publications in order to increase the expertise of its members and interest groups,
3. Carries out communication and information activities related to entrepreneurship and MSMEs,
4. Puts forward proposals and motions related to entrepreneurship and MSMEs to national and international authorities and organisations,
5. Acts in cooperation with other public and private organizations dedicated to the promotion of entrepreneurship and MSME activities.

Objectives of ACSBE are to

1. dignify entrepreneurship as a field of study and profession.
2. reposition entrepreneurship education for positive impact
3. contribute our quota to national development by promoting and deepening the field and profession of entrepreneurship through aggressive training and research.
4. provide a rallying point as an umbrella body for entrepreneurship and small business researchers/scholars, consultants, practitioners and policy makers, as well as vehicle for participating members to collaborate on and communicate about the specific issues and challenges confronting tertiary institution-based entrepreneurship.
5. serve as a vehicle to develop curriculum, initiate collaborative projects with international partners in the field of entrepreneurship education.
6. create a platform for the global exchange and integration of best practices in entrepreneurship education.
7. engage in intensive training of top level entrepreneurs, retirees and would - be-retirees in the field of entrepreneurship.
8. identify, protect and advance the common interest of Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Educators/researchers/scholars/consultants.
9. conduct examinations and also award certificate to qualified members as a mark of professionalism in Entrepreneurship and allied fields
10. regulate entrepreneurship education standard and practice, and formulate code of conduct and take disciplinary measures against erring practitioners.
11. disseminate information about Entrepreneurship, Enterprise Education and Small Business Management in an official Journal to be published by the Council.
12. make meaningful contributions to government policy on entrepreneurship education.
13. maintain close relationship with other professional bodies working in the allied fields as well as joining hands with notable tertiary institutions ,home and abroad, for the promotion of entrepreneurship education.
14. recognise Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Educators in various capacities as entrepreneurship merit awardees in all forms of entrepreneurship education.
15. confer Full membership, student membership and organisational membership on practising and qualified Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Educators and establish a roll of honour for distinguished Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Educators. .
